FENSA is a Government Authorised Competent Person Scheme for the replacement of windows and doors in England and Wales.

This self-assessment scheme was set up by the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF). The main function of the operation is to ensure double glazing companies comply with current Building Regulations when installing new windows and doors into your home. 

A FENSA certificate covers you when you have replacement external windows and doors, against the relevant Building Regulations in domestic properties.

When do you need a FENSA certificate?

FENSA certificates have only been required since 1st April 2002 for the replacement of windows and doors installed.

When don’t you need a FENSA certificate?

A FENSA certificate is not needed when windows and doors are being installed into:

New buildings

Conservatories

Orangeries

Extensions

External porches

Property Conversions such as a barn conversion

Commercial properties

Listed buildings

Caravans

Detached garages

Sheds

Mobile homes

and in the case of reparation works
