PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Bay Windows – Case Study

Mr Dutton contacted us after experiencing persistent issues with his existing bay windows. The original installer had failed to fit structural load-bearing bay poles, which are critical for supporting both the windows and the structure above. This omission had caused additional damage to the internal ceiling and roof, leading to further repairs before any replacement work could begin.

Our Approach and Solution
Following a detailed assessment, we replaced the two bay windows using Halo White PVCu, A+ rated double glazing, incorporating toughened safety glass.

To enhance safety, ventilation, and compliance with regulations, we included:

  • Top-opening fanlights for controlled ventilation without compromising security.

  • Side-opening casement windows upstairs to provide a safe fire escape.

  • Trickle vents at the heads of the frames to meet building regulations and ensure adequate airflow.

Our installation process focused on precision and quality. We ensured that all structural supports were correctly fitted, eliminating any risk of future damage. Throughout the project, we maintained clear communication with Mr Dutton, explaining each step and minimizing disruption to his home.

Outcome
The installation was completed and signed off under FENSA certification.
