PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Leaded Windows – Case Study

Leaded Windows – Upon retirement, Mr and Mrs L were keen to make their home in Liskeard more comfortable, energy-efficient, and easier to maintain. Their property featured traditional timber windows and doors, which, while charming, required regular upkeep and were not as effective in retaining heat. The couple decided it was the perfect time to invest in replacements that would reduce maintenance demands and improve overall home comfort.

Design Considerations:
One of the key priorities for Mr and Mrs L was to retain the character and traditional aesthetics of their property. They were determined to preserve the original design layout, ensuring that any updates would blend seamlessly with the home’s existing style. For the windows, they opted for diamond lead detailing, a classic feature that complements the property’s traditional architecture. For the doors, they selected a Georgian style, maintaining the elegant and timeless appearance of the home.

Implementation:
All old timber windows, doors, and French doors were carefully removed and replaced with modern, low-maintenance alternatives. The installation was carried out with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that the new units matched the original proportions and design features of the property.

Results:
The project successfully delivered a home that is warmer, more energy-efficient, and significantly easier to maintain. The combination of traditional design elements with modern materials allowed Mr and Mrs L to enjoy the best of both worlds—retaining the charm of their home while benefiting from the comfort and convenience of contemporary upgrades.

Conclusion:
This project demonstrates how thoughtful design choices and careful planning can preserve a property’s character while enhancing its functionality. For Mr and Mrs L, the new windows and doors have not only improved the aesthetics of their home but have also contributed to a more comfortable and sustainable living environment.
