Super Insulated Columns are the perfect add on to your Conservatory or Orangery

Ultraframe Super-insulated columns (previously known as Loggia columns) will add a touch of style to your conservatoryorangery, or solid roof extension. They provide more than just decorative value; they also deliver superb comfort and warmth – as they are 5 times more thermally efficient than a brick pier of the equivalent size.

Our columns achieve a standard of quality and performance that matches modern demands, capturing a timeless aesthetic that can be incorporated to suit a wide range of property styles in Devon and Cornwall.

Your choices

Super-insulated columns are much easier to install in comparison to brick piers of the same size. They are prefabricated off-site at the state-of-the-art Ultraframe factory, which means they arrive in a format designed to minimise inconvenience – both to our fitters and our customers. With less mess and a faster installation time you’ll be enjoying your new room sooner than you expected.

Colours and panels

Choose from a range of stunning aluminium cladding panels which are available in 3 standard colours and two shades of white, which are available in either flat or fluted finish. This improves the look of your new structure externally as well as contributing to better comfort internally, thanks to the super insulating properties of your columns.

For that personal touch, you have the option of having you your super-insulated columns in any RAL colour to match or contrast your existing window frames and give that 'WOW' factor.

Column sizes

Super-insulated columns come in 2 sizes to choose from, each of which has been designed then engineered to a specific function. Large super-insulated columns tend to be used at the corners of the structure, whereas the smaller versions work best inline.

Super-insulated columns can also sit on a new or existing 'Dwarf Wall' or wall around the bottom of your conservatory, orangery, or home extension. A mixture of full height columns and columns sat on a dwarf wall can be a great design feature.

Construction

Super-insulated columns, are fitted internally with an insulator core comprising enriched expanded polystyrene and styropor carbon, making the column extremely thermally efficient.

Every super-insulated column is enclosed by an OSB board that attaches directly to the battens. A porous membrane is then enveloped around the structure before the powder coated aluminium claddings are added.

Three benefits of super insulated columns

1. Brick vs Super insulated columns for Conservatories, Orangeries, or single storey extensions

A cold extension detracts value from the home it’s attached to. Installing super-insulated columns will stop your conservatory, orangery, or extension from becoming too cold to use during the winter months, while also providing a range of other benefits.

Super insulated columns produce a low U-value score – meaning, they’ll retain heat more efficiently than a brick pier of equivalent size. Your new room will be warmer because of this, resulting in possibly lower running costs and a reduced carbon footprint.

2. Creating a Modern Design

Your new room will benefit from a modern design that’s appealing when choosing super-insulated columns over brick piers, as you’ll be creating an exciting range of design options that’ll ensure your new room stands out.

Regarding how you can capitalise on the aesthetic benefits of your super insulated columns, you could consider adding bi-folding or sliding doors.

3. Perimeter ceiling

Our super-insulated columns can be used in conjunction with an internal perimeter ceiling, helping to create that ‘real room’ feel to the design. By adding an internal perimeter ceiling, you can add LED lights and the ceiling adds to the overall thermal efficiency.

Super insulated columns are also available without an internal perimeter ceiling by fitting a special cap to the top on the inside. Either way you’ll have complete control over the final design.
